Welcome to Ultra Adventures Pollen Forecast on Weather.comTanawha Trail Long Run
Is anyone interested in running ~27 miles on the Tanawha Trail near Blowing Rock on June 5 or 6? Planning to do this as a training run for VT100... Steve Hodge discussed this trail on this site back in February. I am thinking of camping at Julian Price Park and running the 13.5 out and and back for a total of 27, leaving aid at the turnaround (Beacon Heights). After a very difficult run at Umstead today in 87 degree heat and humidity I thought I would do a little research. I learned a couple of new theories about heat and exercize.
The Horrible Truth about Nude Races
Nude races sound like a fun thing to do until you learn The Truth about nude runs. (The one guy's heart monitor is a nice touch, but he really needs a running bra.) So if any of you are still considering the Take Pride in Your Hide 5K at least you know what to expect. Maybe we don't need to treat water at Laurel Valley Maybe "ultralist experts" are right - that we don't need to treat water. This story on Yahoo News points out a new treatment for Irritated Bowel Syndrome using Intestinal Worms. Instead of going to the Dr., just drink right from the streams this coming August.
Godiva Race Calendar
What is the deal with The Carolina Godiva track club?. I mean, they appear to be a Female running club. But their president is a Male. There seems to be some gender confusion or something. Also, given the club's logo, it seems they would be a good sponsor for the Take Pride in Your Hide 5k. But they are not involved in that event in any way. Regardless of the gender stuff, they have a great race calendar. Palmetto Trail run (coastal area)Monday, May 17 2004 @ 05:58 PM PDT Contributed by: Anonymous Views: 1,352
I am going to be down on the South Carolina coast next week and thought I would use the opportunity to get to know some area trails a little better. I plan on running a 42 mile section of the Palmetto Trail sometime next week. The section starts around Moncks Corner and ends down near the intercoastal waterway near Georgetown(officially called Swamp Fox passage). If anyone is interested, or better yet, is not working one day next week let me know as I would love to have some company. My family will be around so we have transportation to the start and when complete. I am not sure how to add the picture function yet or links, but here is a hand-written link to the trail.
Uwharrie Training Run Report
Great training run today with Scott and David. And of course: many thanks to Patti Kirk, the angel of the trails, for providing aid. My run was very sllooowwww, five hours and a few minutes, more than an hour off my race pace for the first traverse during last February's race. Scott and David were quite a bit faster than me today. But I enjoyed the run a lot. There is talk of another Uwharrie run next Saturday with those wacky Trailheads runners.
Kettle Moraine 100
The Kettle Moraine 100 features 100 KM, 100 Mile, and 100 mile relay events. David Kirk is going to race the 100K event, one of the only entrants from this part of the country. This race is run on the ice age trail in southeastern Wisconsin.
OD Memorial - a Team Effort
On short notice, Jay and Anita have brainwashed Neal and I to enter the Old Dominion Memorial 100 Mile race, coming up Memorial Day weekend, two weeks away. We are going to run as a team, and we will be running to win the team competition. (Of course, we might be the only team in the event.)
