Cyril Fondeville and Sport Afrique

French Ultrarunner, Race Director, and Promoter Cyril Fondeville has been a regular reader of Ultra Adventures for almost three years. Occasionally I get emails from Cyril asking why the site doesn't have more international ultrarunning content. Ultra Adventures has a regional focus, but before I started using the Cluster Map I didn't know the site has so many international readers. I shouldn't be surprised. There isn't very much ultrarunning content on the internet and most of us are obsessed with the sport.
Cyril organizes ultrarunning adventures on the African Continent, French Polynesia, and the Cape Verde islands. Perhaps the most famous of his races is the Raid Sahara (translation by Google). He also organizes training camps and is an active ultrarunner himself. Here is an english translation (by Google) of a recent interview with Cyril. Cyril's races and adventures focus on comaraderie and self-discovery. They are competitive and interesting to elite athletes, but also accomodating to run-of-the-mill ultrarunners and walkers. The venues of his adventures are spectacular.
The next Raid Sahara is coming up this February. For more info, email Cyril. If any of you decide to go to the Sahara or any of Cyril's other adventures let the rest of us know!
