Austin Trail Running

Ultrarunners take care of each other. Last month after I suffered a debilitating asthma attack and dropped from the CCC100 Joe and Joyce Prusaitis gave me a ride and a place to sleep. Joe and Joyce are the Race Directors for two great Ultras: Rocky Racoon 100 and Bandera 100K. Both Joe and Joyce have run many 100s including Hard Rock and Badwater (Joe), and they are both terrific company. When I thanked Joe he said "the price for this service is to do the same for another ultrarunner in the future."

It was especially enjoyable last week while in Austin, TX on business to go on a trail run with Joe and eat some BBQ afterwards. Since I go to Austin several times a year, I've found a new bunch of folks to run with, thanks to Joe. The Hill Country Trail Runners are an active group of athletes and Austin is a great trail running town. I'm planning on running Bandera this January.

Note: photo is Joe running the Barton Creek Greenbelt just a couple of miles from downtown Austin.
